More than 25 million people in the U.S. have limited English proficiency (LEP), and studies have found several improved health care outcomes when a facility provides interpretation services. These include increases in preventive care use, reduced emergency department return rates, and improved communication with providers. This project will identify and disseminate best practices for providing interpretation services in Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs), particularly those in communities with larger populations who have LEP.
