Over the past decade, hundreds of rural hospitals have stopped offering Labor & Delivery services, and many remaining programs face financial and operational challenges. As a result of these known challenges,  Stroudwater Associates and the FMT have partnered to create a guide for rural hospitals to use when assessing the financial viability of Labor & Delivery services. This project aims to develop a series of strategies to increase the sustainability of Labor & Delivery programs and prevent unnecessary service line closures in rural areas.
